Side (AD 98-117) AE 17 - Trajan378 viewsTrajan, 98-117 AD. AE17 (4.53g). [..TPAI]ANOC - [...], draped, laureate bust right / CIΔH - TΩN, Nike/Athena, in long clothes, flying left on snake erecting before her, round shield on left shoulder and spear behind right shoulder; holding pomegranate in her outstretched right hand. Very rare, about VF. Hoeft coll.

Pat Lawrence has pointed out that the reverse cites the Nike which is held by Athena Sidetes in her outstretched hand on the tetradrachms of Antiochos VII Euergetes Sidetes who came from Side. The pomegranate was the symbol of Side (which means old-anatolian = pomegranate!), the snake obviously an allusion to Erychthonios.

Sillyon (AD 193-211) AE 17 - Septimius Severus404 viewsSeptimius Severus, 193-211 AD. AE17 (3.12g). Laureate head right / Ares standing right with spear and shield. VF.

Sillyon (AD 253-268) AE 28 - Gallienus288 viewsGallienus, 253-268 AD. AE28 - 10 Assaria (14.31g, 8h). Laureate, draped and cuirassed bust right; I (mark of value) before / Mên on horseback right; I (mark of value) below. Near VF, brown surfaces, usual porosity.

Unlike most 10 Assaria issues from this region where the denomination mark is only found on the obverse, some coins from Sillyum place it on both the obverse and the reverse. Its position on the reverse of this coin below the horse at first glance leads on to think that the horse has five legs.
