Pitane (BC 350) AE 9

4th-3rd century BC. AE9 (0.78g). Head of Zeus Ammon right / [Î ]-I-Î£-O-Î£, pentagram with pellet in center. VF, dark green patina. Rare with this reverse legend. Alighieri Coll.

The vast majority of Pitaneâ€™s coinage of the â€œZeus Ammon / pentagramâ€ type features an ethnic on the reverse. This rare specimen probably carries the name of a magistrate.
