Ancient Greek and Roman coins from Asia Minor

Coin ID #9153

Karia Uncertain (BC 450-400) bull - Hemiobol

ca 500-470 BC. AR Tetartemorion (7mm, 0.28g, 11h). Head of roaring lion right / Confronted bull’s heads. Unpublished in the standard references. gVF.

An interesting coin. The lion appears Carian in style, and the confronted bull’s heads oddly resemble the facing “horned” lion heads of some types typically given to Hekatomnos (compare SNG Keckman 843).
