Kyzikos (BC 500-450) EL 1/6 Stater

ca 550-450 BC. EL 1/6 Stater (2.39g, 11mm). Youthful male figure, holding Corinthian helmet in right hand, sword in left, kneeling left on tunny fish / Quadripartite incuse square. VF. Carr coll.

William Greenwell, in his 1887 tome entitled "The electrum coinage of Cyzicus," notes: “Mr. Head in his paper on the coins of the find of 1875 (Num. Chron., N.S., xvi, p. 282), suggests that this figure may be one of the Argonauts, and the attribution is not improbable, the mythical history of Cyzicus being closely connected with their expedition.” Coin ID #13239 and #13744 of Kyzicus also reflect a connection with the Argonauts.
