Daldis (AD 238-244) AE 40 - Gordian III

Gordian III, 238-244 AD. AE40 - Medallion (35.21g, 7h), L. Aur. Hephaistion, first archon for the second time. ΑΥΤ•Κ•Μ•ΑΝΤ•ΓΟΡΔΙΑΝΟϹ, laureate and cuirassed bust right, wearing aegis with gorgoneion on his left shoulder / ЄΠ•Λ•ΑΥΡ•ΗΦΑΙϹΤΙΩΝΟϹ•ΑΡΧ•Α - Τ•Β / ΔΑΛΔΙΑ/ΝΩΝ, Artemis advancing right, holding bow and arrow, hunting two stags being attacked by two dogs. Of the highest rarity, apparently only the second known example, and the only one in private hands. Somewhat smoothed, gVF.
