Ancient Greek and Roman coins from Asia Minor

Coin ID #10956

Ionia Uncertain (BC 520-470) Triobol?

ca 5th century BC. AR Hemidrachm / Triobol (?) (10mm, 2.16g). Forepart of horse left / Irregular quadripartite incuse. Near VF, granular surfaces.

This curious pale silver issue is struck on the thick, globular flan often associated with late figural electrum. The attribution is uncertain; Schönert-Geiss has published similar specimens as tetrobols of the earliest issues at Maroneia, while find spots seem to indicate an origin in Asia Minor.
