Ankyra (AD 198-217) AE 29 - Caracalla

Caracalla, 198-217 AD. AE29 (14.53g, 1h). Laureate and cuirassed bust left / Octastyle temple facing slightly right, viewed in perspective. VF, dark brown surfaces. Unpublished type. Barros Coll.

Head suggested that the temple is that of Rome and Augustus, site of the so-called Monumentum Ancyranum, the most complete extant example of the Res Gestae Divi Augusti.
