The helmeted head must be that of a hero-warrior. The whole idea of using just a helmeted head with no individuality as a type is quite interesting; that there is a head inside the helmet is clear from the eye that peeks out above the side piece.
91000576.jpg

The reverse image is reminiscent of the coins of the Lycian dynast Uvug. The weight standard is hard to define, since the weights are somewhat erratic (along with the von Aulock coin, cf. Peus 372, 2002, lot 361). It might be a 1/6th stater on the light stater (c. 8.0-8.6 g), but actually this standard is known from 460 BC onwards only; cf. O. Morkholm and G. Neumann, Die lykischen Munzlegenden (Gottingen 1978), p. 5 f.

Kyme (BC 520-470) Tetartemorion868 views5th century BC. AR Tetartemorion (7mm, 0.18g). Horse’s head left / Quadripartite incuse square. Good VF, porosity.

While such coins are generally assigned to an uncertain Thraco-Macedonian mint, the style of the current coin is more refined than any of the horse types in Tzamalis. “Horse/incuse” types were almost certainly minted at multiple locations, and a mint in (western?) Asia Minor would seem logical based on provenances.
640655.jpg
Isaura (AD 100-200) AE 18867 viewsAutonomous Issues, ca late 2nd cent AD. AE18 (3.10g). Head of Hercules right, wearing lion's skin headdress / Young male with long hair riding lion right and wielding sword. Good VF, brown patina. Scarce city.

Isaura was the chief city of the region of Isauria, which became part of the province of Cilicia in Severan times. Isaura gained the honorific of Metropolis at some point in this period, and all its Severan coinage has this title. This coin must pre-date the union of the provinces and the elevation of Isaura. The Hercules head is a precise rendition of the type used by Alexander the great, while the identity of the lion rider has remained a mystery since the coin was first published in 1896.
