Prostanna (AD 244-249) AE 38 - Philip I348 viewsPhilip I, 244-249 AD. AE38 (23.53g). Laureate, draped, and cuirassed bust R, seen from behind / Men standing L in distyle temple; lion at feet. Near VF, black and brown patina, some roughness. Very rare, only one cited by von Aulock.

The specimen cited by von Aulock is barely fine and as such is called Philip II because of the smooth face. This specimen from the same dies, however, clearly shows an older, bearded portrait and is thus correctly identified as Philip I.
