Issos (BC 333-323) Stater - Alexander III663 viewsTime of Alexander III, 333-323 BC. AR Stater (10.92g). Draped bust of Athena facing slightly left, wearing triple-crested helmet and necklace; crested Corinthian helmet and grape cluster to left, T to right / Baaltars seated left, holding lotus-tipped scepter in right hand; grain ear and grape-bunch in left field, I under throne, small anullet above rung. Nice EF.
Issos (BC 385-375) Stater246 viewsca 385-375 BC. AR Stater (20mm, 10.56g, 3h). Helmeted head of Athena facing slightly left / Head of young Herakles(?) right. VF, lightly toned, porous. Issos (BC 385-375) Stater224 viewsca 385-375 BC. AR Stater (26mm, 10.28g, 12h). Head of Athena facing slightly left, wearing triple-crested Attic helmet / Head of young Herakles(?) left. Good VF, lightly toned, struck with worn obverse die, two flan cracks, overstruck on uncertain undertype. Issos (BC 388-380) Stater - Tiribazos654 views386-380 BC, struck under the satrap Tiribazos. AR Stater (10.42g, 8h). Baal standing left, holding eagle in his right hand and scepter in left; 'BLTRZ' in Aramaic to right, [Ι]ΣΣΙΚΟΝ in Greek to left / Ahura Mazda facing, head turned to right, lower body replaced by a winged sun-disc, wearing crown and holding a wreath in right hand and a lotus in left. Very rare. Toned, VF. From the collection of H.S. von Aulock.
Issos (BC 388-380) Tiribazos - Stater510 views388-380 BC. Tiribazos, Satrap of Western Asia. Second reign, AR Stater (20mm, 10.52g). Baal standing half-left, holding eagle and sceptre / Ahura-Mazda, body terminated by solar disk, holding wreath and lotus blossom. VF, usual weak strike.
Issos (BC 390-385) Stater271 viewsca 390-385 BC. AR Stater (10.54g, 21mm, 6h). Herakles standing right, holding club, bow, arrow and lion’s skin; wreath to left, monogram to right / Apollo standing left, holding phiale and resting against laurel tree. Near VF, lightly toned, struck from worn dies.
