CTRATONI-KEWN, Zeus Panamaros, radiate with sceptre over shoulder, on horseback right / YHFICAMENOU FLAUBIOU DIOMH DOUC, Hekate, with veil billowing overhead, seated side-saddle on a lion, radiate with a dog's tail, running left. EF, attractive olive green patina with a dusting of light earthen encrustation, unusually well struck for this issue.

VF, black-green patina with traces of olive and red, a few adjustment marks. Fine style portraits. Apparently the second known and possibly the only one not in a public collection. Group CEM.

The specimen Imhoof-Blumer cited was from his own collection. Because of the coin’s rarity, it was probably donated to the Berlin Münzkabinett, as it does not appear in the known sales of Imhoof-Blumer’s coins. The Berlin collection, however, remains unpublished, so there is no way of determining that coin’s further disposition.

Laureate and draped bust of Hekate right, crescent on forehead; ZΩΠΥΡΟΣ to left, uncertain symbol to right / ΣΤΡΑ, Zeus on horseback right, holding sceptre and reins. Good VF, attractive dark iridescent toning. Extremely rare, one of two known (the other in the Vatican collection cited by Imhoof-Blumer).

The traditional view of this denomination as a drachm has been challenged by Meadows, who believes that during this period at Stratonikeia their drachm was roughly equal to the Roman quinarius (1.8g). As such, he labels this type as a didrachm, but we have retained traditional attribution for clarity.
