Soloi (BC 333-323) Stater - Balakros

Balakros, Satrap, 333-323 BC. AR Stater (10.83g). Baaltars seated left, holding lotus-tipped sceptre in right hand; Σ-Ο, grain-ear and grape-brunch to left, monogram beneath throne, B to right / Draped bust of Athena facing slightly left, wearing triple-crested helmet and necklace. Attractively toned, good VF. Ex von Aulock Coll., 5873; R.C. Lockett Coll. (Glendining's, 2/1961), lot 2524; Pozzi Coll. (Naville I, 3/1921), lot 2863.
