Mallos (AD 249-251) AE 37 - Trajan Decius

Trajan Decius, 249-251 AD. AE37 (32.03g, 6h). Radiate, draped, and cuirassed bust right / Decius, as pontiff, in toga, driving team of oxen right, plowing pomerium; to left, Tyche of Mallus standing right and presenting him a statuette of Marsyas; to right, Amphilochus standing left, crowning Decius with wreath; in exergue, boar standing left. Good VF, dark green patina with areas of red-brown. Rare foundation scene. Krizan Coll.; ex CNG 64 (9/2003), lot 664; Levante Coll., 1291.
