Ephesos (AD 117-138) Cistophoric Tetradrachm - Hadrian

Hadrian, 117-138 AD. AR Cistophoric Tetradrachm (11.03g, 1h). Struck after 128 AD. Bare head right / Aesculapius standing left, leaning on serpent-entwined staff; c/m: IMP (ligate) VES AV(AV ligate) G in incuse. VF. Overstruck on an uncertain cistophorus which bore the IMP VES AVG countermark. The countermark was present on the undertype and was not obliterated by the overstrike.
