Alexandreia (AD 254-268) AE 19 - Salonina

Salonina, Augusta, 254-268 AD. AE19 - As (4.02g, 6h). Diademed and draped bust right / Eagle standing facing, head right, on head and neck of bull left. Near EF, dark brown patina. Rare ruler for mint.

Bellinger knew of four types and a total of eleven coins for Salonina from Alexandria Troas, which was a prolific mint during the reign of Valerian and Gallienus. Only one coin of Salonina from this mint is on CoinArchives (CNG e212, lot 177), a Marsyas type from the same obverse die as the current coin.
