Commodus, 177-192 AD. AE41 - Medallion (37.37g, 6h). Homonoia with Ephesus. P. Ael. Pius, strategos. [AY K]AI M AV-PH KOMOΔOC, laureate, draped, and cuirassed bust right / ΕΠI CT[P]-A ΠIOV [KOI]NΩ[N]/ ΠΕPΓAMHNΩ/N EΦECΙΩN, Asclepius, holding cult idol of Artemis Ephesia and serpent-entwined staff, seated in biga drawn by two centaurs. Fine, earthen black patina, some smoothing. Extremely rare and possibly unrecorded with this later bust type.
