ca 521-478 BC. EL Hekte (2.5g). Head of a roaring lion right / Incuse head of a calf right with collar, incuse rectangular punch behind. Obverse has signs of die rust, reverse is from a die unknown to Bodenstedt and no match with examples that have come to auction thus far. aVF/gVF. Carr coll.

From the numbers known to Bodenstedt and those that have appeared at auction, the coins of this emission are the most extensive of all those electrum of Lesbos. It has been suggested by a number of authorities that this emission was struck around 500 BC when Lesbos took part in the Ionic revolt.
