Abydos (BC 175-70) Tetradrachm

ca 80-70 BC. AR Tetradrachm (16.63g, 1h). Draped bust of Artemis right, bow and quiver at her shoulder, within dotted circle / Eagle standing right with spread wings, bunch of grapes to right; ΑΒΥ-ΔΗ-ΝΩΝ above, ΦΕΡΕΝΙΚΟΥ (magistrate) in exergue, all within laurel wreath. Beautifully toned. Good very fine. From the collections of H.S. von Aulock, R. Jameson, and Consul E. Weber (Hirsch XXI, 11/1908, lot 2534).
