Uncertain (AD 117-138) Cistophoric Tetradrachm - Hadrian

Hadrian, 117-138 AD. AR Cistophoric Tetradrachm (10.42g, 6h). Mint A. Struck after 128 AD. LVCVSTVS HLDPILNVS P P (sic), bare head right / COS III, six grain ears tied in a bundle. VF, minor slip strike on obverse. areas of minor porosity. Unique and unknown to Metcalf. This reverse type, with COS III across the lower field and multiple leaves on the stalks, was previously known from a single specimen in Vienna, which Metcalf assigned to an uncertain Mint A. The bust type and unusual legend, though, are unrecorded for this mint.
