(BC 400-380) Vekhssere II - Stater

Vekhssere II, Dynast, ca 390 BC. AR Stater (9.89g, 12h). Forepart of lion left, mouth open wide / Head of Athena facing, turned slightly to left, wearing triple crested helmet and pearl necklace. Extremely rare, one of two examples known. Attractively toned. Minor corrosion and reverse struck lightly, otherwise, good VF. Ex Hess-Leu 19 (4/1962), lot 312, and from the Podalia Hoard of 1957 (IGCH 1262).
