Nikomedeia (AD 218-222) AE 28 - Elagabalus

Elagabalus, 218-222 AD. AE28 (13.64g, 6h). Laureate, draped, and cuirassed bust right / Emperor on horseback charging right, holding couched lance. Near VF, uneven green patina. Very rare.

Coins of Elagabalus from Nicomedia are all very scarce. This reverse type was later employed by Balbinus (see SNG von Aulock 7117).
