Pinara (BC 425-400) Stater - Kherei

Kherei, Dynast, ca 425-400 BC. AR Stater (8.56g, 20mm). Pinara mint. Helmeted head of Athena right, wearing crested Attic helmet, Lycian letters 'KhE' to left / Head of Kherei right, wearing Persian headdress (bashlyk); Lycian letters 'Pillefi' (retrograde) - 'Kherei', within dotted incuse circle. An apparently unrecorded variety of a very rare type. Well struck and centred, EF.
