Patara (BC 410-380) Diobol

ca 450-430 BC. AR Diobol (1.11g). Helmeted head of Athena right / Head of Hermes right, wearing winged petasos; caduceus to right, diskeles to left; all within dotted circle incuse. Superb EF, obverse slightly double struck. Ex Triton IV (12/2000), lot 284.

Both Tlos and Patara struck coins with similar designs, this coin though lacks any identifying inscription.

Although CNG dated this to mid-5th century, it seems more appropriate in early 4th.
