Herakleia Pontika (BC 380-360) Stater

ca 380-360 BC. AR Stater (6.84g). Head of Herakles facing, slightly inclined to right, wearing a lion’s skin headdress tied at his neck / Nike crouching to left on a club, raising her right hand to inscribe the legend [HP]AKΛEIA. Some light porosity, of wonderful classical style, toned, gVF and extremely rare. Prospero coll.; purchased from Spink & Son Ltd., London (3/1987) US $10,000.
